Oakwood Surgery is committed to providing the highest possible up-to-date standards of medical and nursing care, in a professional and compassionate manner, whilst respecting patients’ confidentiality.

Brief History

Oakwood Surgery merged with College Road Surgery in April 2020 and prior to that they has been individual practice in the Sparkhill and Moseley area for at least 40 to 50 years  

Most of our doctors are multilingual, thus, allowing them to understand the medical needs of many patients for whom English is a second language.

If you require a blood test, it would be referred/requested by a GP. Please allow 7-10 working days for results to reach the surgery.

Medical Staff

We currently have eight GPs – two Partners, four salaried GPs and two regular Locum GPs. Further, we also have one ANP9Nurse Practitioner Consultant, three Nurses (who run various clinics and are able to help and advise with concerns that do not require a doctor’s intervention: e.g., including chronic health conditions, diabetes, asthma and respiratory conditions and minor illness. We also employ two Health Care Assistant who oversee blood tests, NHS Health Checks and New Patient Health Checks at the point of registration. Please refer to the ‘Practice Staff’ tab (in the ‘About Us’ section) for more detailed information on our GPs and Nurses (and their respective areas of specialism).

Our Nursing Team

Our highly qualified Nurses deal with a range of conditions and health concerns. They examine patients and plan care. They are experts in many areas of disease management such as diabetes and asthma.

Managers

Rukhsana Aslam our business Manager oversees the business side of the practice while Deborah Browning oversees the day-to-day running of the practice and administrative staff. Our highly qualified Nurses deal with a range of conditions and health concerns. They examine patients and plan care. They are experts in many areas of disease management such as diabetes and asthma.

Receptionists

Our friendly, helpful team of receptionists are always happy to help and assist you with making appointments, ordering prescription and dealing with any questions or enquires.

Secretarial and Administation Staff

Our efficient team of medical secretaries and administrative staff deal with referrals, registrations, private ‘Non-NHS’ claim reports, scanning of medical
letters and reports, and other work generated within the practice.

Confidentiality

The practice fully complies with all Data Protection legislation and we make every effort to preserve patient confidentiality. We ask you for personal information to ensure that you receive appropriate care and treatment. For the practice to function effectively it is sometimes necessary for medical information about you to be shared between members of the practice team. It will be shared with others only to provide further medical treatment for you, e.g., from hospital services, or to enable you to access other services (for example, from Social Services or a social work).

Complaints

We strive to provide a friendly and professional service to all stakeholders attending our practice. However, if, for any reason, you believe our level of service has not met the high standards we strive to maintain, please complete our Patient Satisfaction Survey and we will address your concerns. Please note that we take all complaints very seriously. If, however, you would like to make a complaint regarding the surgery or the services we offer, please contact (in the first instance) our Practice Manager (via telephone or in writing) who will make every effort to respond to your concerns as soon as possible. All complaints are resolved in strict confidence.

The average pay for GPs working in Oakwood Surgery in the last financial year was £89,708 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 2 full time Partners, 3 part time GPs and 2 locum GPs who worked in the practice for longer than six months.
